Robots I Have Known
May 2nd, 2004I was thinking about ways I could use my free time even less wisely, and I had an idea: What if I pretended that Little Toy Robot was a time-traveler who decided to blog about his adventures with the great robots of fact and fiction?
Introducing Robots I Have Known, at i.littletoyrobot.com. Once or twice a month I’ll be writing bite-sized essays in which I insert myself into my favorite robot stories from books, comics, movies, and history.
The first one features Robbie, the title character of the first story in Isaac Asimov’s I, Robot. He’s a sentimental favorite, one of the first famous robots of fiction, and I tried to write the piece in a naive style as a tribute to the source.

This is a really neat idea. Makes me think I should have spent more than two minutes considering my own domain name. Just what is a raw brick anyway? Mud? Could I wrote stories featuring muds I have known? Nope. Therefore, your concept=cool.

This sounds really cool. I’d like to request an account from HAL 9000.

Carol, I think Rawbrick is mighty fine the way it is.
Rusty, HAL 9000 and Little Toy Robot were drinking buddies for a while. I think some of their stories might need to be censored, especially since they feature prominent political figures and frequent spur-of-the-moment trips down to Méjico, but there might be something there…

I went to grad school in Hal’s hometown :)
Seriously! Hal is from the midwest!

I still think this is an awesome idea.
