Comments About Van Helsing
May 10th, 20041. The movie accomplished a rare feat by being depressing while not intending to be depressing.
2. The most thought-provoking thing about the movie was this: Do Dracula’s helpers resemble super-evil Oompa Loompas, or super-evil Jawas?
3. It was still better than League of Extraordinary Gentlemen!

I just realized why Van Helsing’s Mr. Hyde looked so familiar. Kind of had the same look as the Mr. Hyde in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, didn’t he?

I haven’t seen it yet — was Van Helsing shirtless at all?

Carol: Yeah, plus Van Helsing fought Jekyll/Hyde in Paris. That’s not from the novel, as far as I can remember — it’s from Alan Moore.
Tangognat: Yes he was.

Jekyll/Hyde seemed to look like a cross between Shrek and the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I find lots of movies to be depressing without meaning to be depressing.
I was thinking Oompa Loompas at the time, but I think they jacked the Jawas’ gear.
Even though I never saw it, I found League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to be depressing.
