It’s Not Just Me
October 20th, 2004The idiosyncratic list of blogs I read regularly shows that a lot of people are following the baseball playoffs. With the exception of the baseball blogs I read, where there are a fair share of Yankee fans, it seems that everyone else in the universe is pulling for the Red Sox.
Steven Johnson, “a lifelong Yankees fan,” has an interesting but odious perspective.
Bookdwarf, a Bostonian, has an obvious allegiance to the Sox.
Justin wants the Sox to win, but like me, is more interested in just seeing good baseball.
Rusty, like just about everyone down in Atlanta, hates the Yanks.
Jeff is a Braves fan, and I think it’s safe to say that he is not too keen on the Yankees either.
Laura G. hates the Yankees.
Frank, too.
And this person likes to rub it in my face every time the Red Sox win.
I admit that last night’s game was an embarrassment for the boys from the Bronx.

Ha, yeah. If I were neutral before last night, I think I’d be rooting for the Sox now after A-Rod bitch slapping the first baseman’s mitt. It’s not so much that he did it so much as when the call was reversed he threw his arms up in the air in a “What’d I do?” pose. That made me want to smack him. Oh, and Jeter and ARod are pretty boys.

Maybe he was just trying to give him a high five, but it just turned out that he slapped the hand with the ball in it. Oops!

Good to see the umpires getting together and getting those calls right, isn’t it? Wow, first team ever to force a Game 7 after being down 3-0. I talked to my dad this morning (a die-hard Red Sox fan) and he said he doesn’t think he’ll be able to watch tonight for fear of losing. Me? I’m taping “Lost” and watching some baseball!

as a Jays fan, I hate both the Yankees and the Sox, but hate the Yankees more. The way I see it, if the Sox can break their curse then there’s a good chance the Maple Leafs can break THEIR curse.

Ah, the Jays. I’ll never forget that Joe Carter home run - that was baseball!

What? No rubbing. Just unholy glee, is all…

Remember the outrage last year when Robert Fick attempted an AROD on Eric Karros in the Braves-Cubs series. Remember the outrage and the calls for Fick’s head by the media and how it was dirty. Bobby Cox even suspended Fick for the remainder of the series. I ask, where’s the outrage???
Go Cardinals!

Well, Fick had a history of playing dirty, and his chop was malicious. A-Rod’s swat was cheap, but it wasn’t nasty. Still, your point is taken.
